Textile expert from Parsons, Jessie Highet, will be leading a drop in tapestry weaving workshop as well as community weaving project. Tapestry weaving is a long, slow, beautifully meditative process and Jessie looks forward to teaching you the basics.
Stephanie Echeveste, a Mexican-American fiber artist, will have a Calavera decorating station where you can decorate your own sugar skull to celebrate Día de los Muertos. Her booth will also feature her artwork, including macramé, shibori indigo dyeing, and printmaking in the form of wall hangings, gifts, and cards.
Eva Nikolova will be demonstrating how to paint with alcohol inks, showing a range of techniques on a variety of surfaces including ceramic tiles, synthetic paper, and clear film.
Meet the talented ceramic artist, Laurie Scupp, who will have have illustrated, functional pottery pieces made out of porcelain and stoneware and have fun playing with clay as well.
